Skärvångens Bymejeri

In a little village near the mountains, among cowsheds and enclosed pasture land in the northwest of the County of Jämtland, is Skärvångens Bymejeri. Here, three farming families, the Olssons, Magnussons and Norrmans, run a dairy that specialises in making dessert cheeses from milk produced by the cows and goats in the village. To achieve the best results, all processing work is done by hand. Staff training is a key concept of the business. At Skärvången, inspiration for and know-how about biologically natural and artisan methods of production of cheese are acquired from regular study visits to experienced cheese-makers in the countries of southern Europe.
